According to Greek Reporter, the new initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, under the title Cycladic cheese pallet, which stands as a pilot for the Cycladic islands, aims to entice both Greek and foreign tourists with its delicious assortment of cheese products, as well as introduce them to historical, cultural and mythological elements associated with cheese.
These kinds of cheese are considered to be trademark products of the island, that means the ones that are not found anywhere else. The pilot campaign was presented Feb. 11, within the framework of the the specialized international 8th exhibition concerning the breeding, meat and dairy animal farming sector, ZOOTECHNIA 2013, in Thessaloniki, attended by the Minister of Agricultural Development and Food, Athanasios Tsaftaris.
Starting from the Cyclades, the Ministry of Rural Development and Food suggests more and more restaurants put the unique Cyladic cheese varieties on their menu, always accompanied by a short explanatory guide providing both historical and cultural elements. The Cycladic cheese pallet will include only certified cheese which adheres to specific standards.
