According to Greeknewsagenda Mount Athos (the Holy Mountain), well known in the Orthodox world for its monasteries and its spiritual community, is also known for its cuisine. Spiritual life and constant feasting have inspired a healthy yet tasteful cooking, appealing to all gourmet lovers, who nonetheless care about their health and shape.

This simple, though rich in local herbs and seafood cuisine, which reflects the austerity of the monks’ life is presented at the Mount Athos Area Gourmet, running at the eastern finger of Halkidiki until June 15.

In this gastronomic feast, acclaimed chef Dina Nikolaou invites all guests to savour the products and the tastes of the region; at the same time, everyone is welcome to join walks in the magnificent surrounding area, tours at Ancient Stageira -the birth place of Aristotle- and go fishing.
