Pandora, the robotic vehicle created by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) team ranked second in Robocup 2013 robotics tournament, held in Eindhoven, Holland from June 26 to July 1.The Greek team participated in Robocup Rescue, the section dedicated to robotics in disaster and rescue operations, among twenty research teams from all around the world, according to the GreekNewsAgenda.
The teams’ robotic vehicles competed for four days at various venues under various rescue scenarios, where Pandora finished second, while the Hector team from the University of Darmstadt, Germany, was the winner.
The Pandora team (Program for the Advancement of Non Directed Operating Robotic Agents) was created in 2005, by professors and students of AUTH’s Electrical & Computer Engineering Faculty.
Their robotic vehicle Pandora incorporates sensory organs for determining the vehicle’s position, as well as sensory organs used to locate and identify a victim. This was their fourth participation at Robocup.
