The 2012 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the EU for its achievements in peace on the European continent. In the spirit of solidarity with those less fortunate the EU decided to dedicate the Nobel Peace Prize money to children who are denied the chance of growing up in peace. The EU will fund humanitarian projects providing children in conflict situations with education.
